About Hyosung GD450

Preview

DSK Motowheels has been selling Hyosung motorcycles since the last couple of years. However, when it comes to overall sales, it’s been doing just fine. But with its new line-up, the Korean manufacturer wants a bigger slice of the growing premium motorcycle segment in the country. And the recently unveiled GD450 is a part of the same strategy.

The GD450 is a naked street fighter motorcycle that will slot in between the Hyosung GD250 and the GT650N. While Hyosung already had a small capacity naked motorcycle, the GD450 is the answer to KTM’s Duke 390. The bike that was unveiled at the 2015 EICMA was a prototype, however, the overall design will be retained. The major change we will see on the production bike is the new headlamp cluster which comes with a revamped appearance.

The GD450 is powered by a new 450cc single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 49bhp of peak power and a maximum torque of 48Nm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. With a kerb weight of 145kgs, it is just six kgs heavier than the KTM Duke 390 and the power-to-weight ratio is pretty good. The bike gets 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a gas charged monoshock with preload adjustability at the rear. Talking about its brakes, the GD450 is equipped with a 300mm single disc brake at the front and 230mm single disc brake at the rear.

The global debut of the Hyosung GD450 will take place in the middle of the next financial year. The Indian market will see this bike during the festive season and will be priced very competitively. DSK Hyosung will be able to achieve this as many components will be shared with its smaller siblings – the GD250N and GD250R that will be launched in India as well. We are expecting the Korean manufacturer to price the GD450 between Rs 1.9 lakh and Rs 2.2 lakh.
